Shields and Rutland began as two separate estate agents operating in Guernsey. Shields handled property sales whilst Rutland managed rentals. Towards the end of 2016 these two businesses decided to merge. Each previously shared a logo style but had separate colour palettes and premises. The merger created a chance to bring the brand, literally, under one roof and make a mark within the industry.
The brand was inspired by the line “Opening Doors Since 1993”. The new business wanted to show that, although new, it was still established and has been creating opportunities for people for over 25 years. The ampersand keyhole was the personification of this.
“We have been working with Bunker Creative for a number of years and are confident this relationship will continue. They are full of original ideas and continue to impress and surprise us with each task we set them, whether this is a simple banner for social media or a complete rebrand. When we first started working with Bunker they took the time to get to know our industry, the personality of the company and even our staff which is what separates them from other firms we have dealt with in the past and the reason why we would not choose to work with anybody else.”

With each house sold or rented, Shields & Rutland give out a information pack. We saw this as a great opportunity to create brand awareness. We wanted to give the client something that they could keep but that was useful. The winner was a small metal ampersand, borrowed from the new logo. It means that a small part of the business is carried with its customers wherever they go.
